We Ate Eat Clean, Play Dirty Recipes For a Week

You should know that I’ve been a major stan of the wellness company Sakara since I first found their website in college (spoiler alert: the branding is good). If you’re not familiar, Sakara is a plant-based meal delivery service, line of products, and lifestyle brand dedicated to making plant-based eating easy and helping people use food as medicine. As a wellness editor and holistic health coach, I have a lot of thoughts about how the wellness industry needs to change, like, yesterday (read: damaging diet culture, chemical-filled foods that pass as “healthy,” and an oversaturated supplement industry). Sakara has been one of the brands that, in my opinion, has always done it right. So when the founders released a cookbook, Eat Clean, Play Dirty, I ordered it as fast as I got my hands on a copy of Breaking Dawn when it came out in 2008 (since then, I’ve switched to #TeamJacob, thank you very much).

I’m a fan—nay, a worshipper—of a good wellness cookbook. I read them before bed as if they were novels and study them as if they were textbooks. “Extra,” maybe, but I do all the work so you don’t have to. I went through this one in literally three days and loved that while it was recipe-based, the cookbook took a holistic approach, acknowledging that food is only one piece of the cauliflower-based pie. “Lightwork” suggestions were sprinkled throughout the beet burgers and chickpea scrambles, ranging from writing a note with an affirmation to stick on your mirror to turning on your favorite song and practicing being silly. Not only is this the most lovely addition to any cookbook I’ve ever read, but it also made my week way more fun. Read on for what happened when I spent an entire week eating clean and playing dirty (or, you know, cooking only recipes from this Instagram-favorite cookbook).

Eat Clean, Play Dirty: Recipes for a Body and Life You Love

First step: meal prepping

The first step, of course, was to grocery shop and prep a few basic ingredients for the week. Here were a few things on my grocery list that have most certainly never been on it before: a jar of roasted red peppers, scallions, raw beets, coconut meat, daikon, and kabocha squash. Despite being a bit intimidated by daikon, I successfully completed the grocery list and prepped a few items for the week ahead. The key to eating healthy, whole foods (with less-than-simple recipes) is to prep what you can in advance. I made a few sauces (like a vegan Green Goddess dressing made with avocado) as well as prepped some grains (a couple of the recipes I was making called for rice, but I used quinoa just because I prefer it). I also prepared and roasted beets in parchment paper and washed and dried all the produce.

Yes, I did DIY my own sauces

My first reaction was that many of the meals were actually pretty simple, even if they seemed intimidating, thanks to DIY sauces or sophisticated ingredients. All of my lunch recipes took less than 20 minutes to prepare. I loved that I wasn’t eating basic salads or simple protein and steamed veggies—these foods had flavor. One of my favorite lunches of the week was actually pretty similar (in terms of structure) to a quinoa bowl in my typical weekly lunch rotation. However, the simple addition of roasted and seasoned green beans made a huge difference in flavor (I would’ve normally microwaved green beans or just added raw veggies), but the biggest game-changer was the sauce.

Let me go off about the sauces for a second: Whoever said plant-based eating does not have drool-worthy flavor has not tried any of the sauce recipes in Eat Clean, Play Dirty. The Green Goddess that I was so obsessed with was super easy to make; it was basically scallions, avocado, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cilantro, basil, and mint, all blended together in my Nutribullet. It was creamier and tastier than any Caesar dressing or non-vegan Green Goddess sauce I had ever had. Another favorite sauce from the week was a “cheese” sauce, AKA a creamy spread made with roasted red peppers and tahini I made for tacos (see below), but I straight up ate the leftovers with a spoon because it was that good. Lesson learned: Homemaking your own sauces is so much simpler than you think and worth the cleanup or prep. Plus, veggies taste better when they’re blended.

“Plant-based” isn’t as scary as it sounds

Another lesson: Beets are shockingly easy to cook with from scratch and wildly delicious when they’re roasted. If you’re like me and have only really eaten beets in raw form (like a beet salad), know that they are freaking delicious and savory when you roast them in the oven with some olive oil and cumin *chef’s kiss*. Thanks to the helpful insert in the cookbook, I also learned that beets are rich in enzymes that are programmed to seek out damaging toxins and then neutralize and eliminate them (delicious and detoxifying? Yus please!).

In general, a lot of the recipes or items I was intimated by turned out to be pretty easy to work with. FYI: Plant-based doesn’t have to mean difficult or bland. I cooked most of these meals for my boyfriend (who has never met a buffalo wing he didn’t like), and he didn’t think twice about eating totally plant-based meals because I don’t even think he realized he was. Turns out, when he’s eating flavorful and delicious meals, he doesn’t really question what’s in them.

While Eat Clean, Play Dirty is technically a plant-based and vegan cookbook, it definitely doesn’t feel like you’re taking away anything. The book is full of sandwiches, pizzas, pasta, desserts (more on that below), and it all looks so delicious, you forget that it’s leaving out some of your favorite foods, whether it’s chicken, brie cheese, or sourdough bread. A lot of nutrition cookbooks first focus on what not to eat or what to cut out, or they have a limited amount of healthy fats or portion sizes to restrict calories, so I love that Sakara fits so seamlessly with my own personal beliefs of adding as many whole foods to your plate as possible rather than taking away or limiting.

The goal of eating should be adding in as many nutrients as possible

The recipes may not be five-ingredients-and-under kind of simple, but I loved getting out all my veggies, grains, and flavors to marvel at how many nutrients I could fit into a meal. For example, the delicious little Rainbow Wraps above contained seven different whole foods in a small little package (and would’ve contained eight if I didn’t forget to buy the strawberries the recipe called for). Maybe our goal with food shouldn’t always be easier or less; maybe the goal should be to nourish our bodies more.

Even the desserts were full of nutrients. TBH, I was pretty intimidated by the Sexy Cinnamon Rolls (I did not know what psyllium husk powder was and also could not find coconut palm sugar at the store), so I opted for these Seed Butter cookies that were fairly simple and took me under 10 minutes to assemble. Spoiler alert: If you were wondering if sunflower seed butter was a thing and if it could turn into cookies (as I know you were), it is and it can! If oat flour, seed butter, and honey can turn into delicious, decadent cookies, you can do anything.

When all was said and done (and by that I mean the week was over and my fridge was completely empty), I truly felt the most nourished I had in a long time. After being used to the same basic recipes over and over again, my week with Sakara reignited my love for cooking and my passion for wellness—I wasn’t just going through the motions. Every day, I felt excited to cook and even more excited to eat.

Here’s What I Learned:

1. We can all be salad girls

I’m traditionally not the type to eat salads for meals. A side salad or starter, sure, but I never felt satisfied enough and typically crave something warm, a little tastier, or more filling. But after trying a variety of salads with additions like roasted tamari mushrooms or a creamy Green Goddess dressing, consider me an official convert. Basically, if you “don’t like veggies,” you’re not doing veggies right. I lived a lot of my teenage and young adult life thinking I wasn’t going to be one of “those girls” who ate salads for meals, called their diets plant-based, and said no to cheese or pasta (like that’s possible?). But ever since I proudly chowed down french toast sticks and spaghetti marinara (at the same time, yes, it has happened) in the high school cafeteria, I’ve learned that we are all “those girls;” it’s just about finding the foods that not only make us feel good but taste good too. Trust me, you won’t miss nacho fries or Dominos pizza when you’re shocked at how delicious a roasted red pepper “cheese” sauce tastes.

2. You can do hard things

OK, so this is a Glennon Doyle quote that is meant to apply to actual life problems, but I think it can be applied to cooking my way through the Sakara cookbook too. No, many of the recipes were not “simple,” but I quickly learned that they were doable. Even complicated chutneys were a few basic ingredients mixed together in a bowl. Not to brag or anything, but I did DIY a vegan cheese, bake nutseed-based cookies, roast a raw beet, and make my own curry. And guess what? I did it during an extremely busy work week when my dog also happened to have severe diarrhea for about three days (sorry if that was TMI, but I just wanted to paint the picture that I didn’t have all day to twiddle my thumbs while waiting for the oven timer to go off). Bottom line: Dishes you never thought you could make might be more achievable and simple than you think. I can do it, and you can too.

3. Romanticize lunches

Yes, I’m good at eating my veggies and pretty much only cook plant-based meals, but I typically rotate between the same lunches. Read: avocado toast, a quinoa bowl with some basic veggies and coconut aminos, or a salad wrap. Lunch has historically been about convenience and what’s in my fridge. But this week got me to realize how much better I felt when I took time to make my lunches feel special. Blending herbs into a delicious homemade dressing or roasting veggies with fresh spices not only made my lunches taste more delicious, but it also reminded me that every chance I have to eat is a chance to make my life a little more special. I’m big on romanticizing the little moments in life, and this was my reminder to romanticize lunch too. Catch me spending my lunch break DIYing sauces and blending gourmet soups from now on. It’s well worth the time and effort.

4. Trying new things is a healthy eating hack

The biggest lesson I learned after this week is to become more adventurous in the produce I can cook. Roast a beet? Never thought I’d do that in my life. Purchase and cook chard? Astonishing. Rather than sticking to the same grocery list of produce (spinach, berries, avocado, repeat), I feel much more confident in my ability to pick out what’s in season or try a new veggie and figure out a way to make it delicious. Also, that aforementioned basic meal rotation? Consider it a thing of the past. Trying new flavors, foods, and recipes are not only the way to keep cooking interesting but also the most enjoyable way to eat healthy foods that make your body feel good.

Back in December 2020, capping off a year of not-so-great news, Sephora and Kohl's announced a partnership that was very much in the opposite vein and made our beauty-sensitive heart rates spike. The above image and title might have spoiled it, but say hello to 2,500 square foot Sephora stores that will fully be integrated within existing Kohl's locations.

By the end of this fall, you can shop all of your favorite Sephora products at 200 Kohl's stores via a special, branded entrance, to boot (pictured below). "You really feel like you are in a Sephora, from the lighting, brand assortment, elevated fixturing, and trained associates," Doug Howe, Kohl's chief merchandising officer, tells Allure over a phone call.

The goal of this special collaboration is very much to treat, curate, and update Sephora at Kohl's in the same ways as a standalone Sephora store would be. The added bonus, of course, is offering Kohl's consumers — especially those who have never stepped foot in Sephora, oftentimes because they don't live near one — the total beauty package.

You can find the full list of Sephora at Kohl's locations on Kohl's corporate website. If you're bummed that there isn't one within driving distance just yet, don't fret. The two retailers plan to open a whopping 400 Sephora at Kohl's locations by 2022 and an even more impressive 850 locations by 2023. (Talk about an expanded customer base.) And starting August 1, you can shop Sephora at Kohl's online exclusively at kohls.com — mirrored by all of the same, detailed breakdowns and community reviews you'd find on sephora.com.

And get this, for all of you rewards-obsessed shoppers, all of your Sephora at Kohl's purchases will qualify for both retailers' rewards programs, Beauty Insider and Kohl's Cash. That is quite literally a win-win situation if I've ever called one.

Shoppers can expect to see a massive array of 125 brands (and 8,500 total items) housed within Sephora at Kohl's locations, including many of the classic brands they trust, like Lancôme, Caudalie, Ole Henriksen, Make Up for Ever, Charlotte Tilbury, and Fenty Beauty — as well as up-and-coming beauty brands like One/Size, Glow Recipe, The Inkey List, and Innbeauty. "These are really our top-selling, top-trending brands at Sephora across all categories," Artemis Patrick, EVP/Global Chief Merchandising Officer at Sephora, tells Allure.

Patrick notes that Sephora at Kohl's will also feature special curations that you'd normally see in a freestanding Sephora, like the "clean beauty" endcaps, "Next Big Thing" displays, and top-selling "Sephora Favorites" gondolas. After my virtual walkthrough tour prior to this call, I can definitely confirm that all of the displays and formatting look spot-on to what you'd find at Sephora. And as someone who grew up in the suburbs going to Kohl's very regularly (before I became engrossed in beauty and memorized the ins and outs of Sephora), it's really like the best of both worlds.

I'm terrible at goodbyes. I've certainly had a fair share in my lifetime. Moving to new schools. Switching jobs. Just this fall, we packed up our house of 16 years and moved to my husband's childhood hometown. Now, after nearly six years at Allure, I'm closing this chapter and heading to a sunny new coast for a big new role at Netflix. And I'm struggling to find the right words.

It's an exciting moment, but bittersweet because I'll miss everyone at Allure so much. This has been a dream job, where I thought I'd stay forever. I still pinch myself over the incredible experiences I've had during my time here. I've interviewed icons (Helen Mirren, Lupita Nyong'o) and trailblazers (Awkwafina, Mj Rodriguez). I sat front row at a fashion show in an English castle and soaked up skin-care history in Shizuoka, Japan. I had my nails painted by masters and rang the opening (and closing!) bell at the New York Stock Exchange. But the memories I'll hold most dear revolve around what the brilliant team here accomplished.

When I first started this job, I did a Q&A session for about a hundred members of our revenue team. In a final, fun speed round, the interviewer peppered me with questions like, "What three words best describe you," "Favorite lip color?" and ended on: "What's your goal for Allure?" Without hesitation, I answered, "I want to change the world."

At the time, I said it with a wink. But nearly six years later, I'm immensely proud of how much ground we moved. We genuinely shifted the way people look at and talk about beauty. We helped change the global narrative around aging. We challenged the way the industry talks about sustainability. We explored, deeply, the culture of hair and skin color and race and the many ways the traditional beauty machine has excluded people. We challenged the antiquated notion of who gets to be beautiful. We celebrated many firsts (the first man, first trans woman, first model with Down syndrome on our cover) and rejected tokenism (after having only two Asian cover stars in the first 28 years of Allure, we've featured 8 in just the past few years). We did all this while maintaining and expanding Allure's authoritative science reporting and product reviews everywhere from these pages to our Science of Beauty podcast.

I want to thank the whole team, past and present, who made these years so special. And I'm so grateful to all of you out there who've supported what we do. This may be goodbye, but I'll be a reader and watcher and consumer of all things Allure, always. To quote Keats, "A thing of beauty is a joy forever."

Simone Biles Returns From the Tokyo Olympics With Curly Box Braids

Simone Biles smiling with bronze medal and bouquet of flowersGetty Images

After initially withdrawing from Olympic competitions due to mental health issues on July 28, gymnast Simone Biles pulled through to compete on the balance beams a few days later on August 3 and won a bronze medal. That day, she made history by tying the record for the most Olympic medals won by a U.S. gymnast. Now, the Olympian is back home and relaxing poolside with her family and a fresh set of curly box braids.

On August 8, Biles shared a few photos of her new braided hairstyle with her 6 million and counting followers. She poses in a tie-dye bikini with her tongue poking out from her smile and her braids parted simply down the middle. These box braids are definitely on the longer side with the curled tips hitting below her waist, and we're obsessed with every inch of them.

The medium-sized braids start to get smaller about halfway down the hair before transitioning into the curled ends. These wavy ends add such a bohemian vibe to this convenient protective style. Though she might play around with brown and blonde hair colors sometimes, the 24-year-old kept it simple with all-black braids this time around.

It's actually not her first time wearing curly braids like these. In December 2020, she shared a selfie of her black-and-caramel brown box braids with similar wavy tips that looked gorgeous. Though she often shows off her straightened hair on Instagram, she also switches it up pretty frequently with other braided styles, including cornrows with honey-blonde highlights and medium-sized black box braids underneath a denim Chanel bucket hat.

After the Tokyo Olympics, we love to see Biles relaxing and spending time with her loving family, supportive boyfriend, and two French bulldogs. We hope she gets to wind down and engage in whatever self-care she needs.

5 Ways to Feel More Toned by Tomorrow

Source: Sweenshots & Shaymone | Stocksy

As a holistic health coach, one of the questions (and text messages) I get most often is along the lines of “OMG, I have a wedding/first date/big event this weekend. How can I get more toned ASAP?” While we’re all playing the long game when it comes to our health (hello, healthy habits!), sometimes we want a quick fix for a little boost. Whether it’s an event you want to feel your best for or you just feel like you need a little motivation after sitting on your couch for almost two years straight (’cause same), I’ve compiled my best tips and tricks for feeling more toned by tomorrow.

Just so we’re clear, “toned” is not a way you look in the mirror. It doesn’t mean six-pack abs or defined biceps. At The Everygirl, we’re redefining being “toned” to mean feeling strong and healthy in your body. No matter your jeans size or how many pounds you can bench press; you deserve to feel like the strong, toned badass you are, and you deserve to feel it by tomorrow. Read on for instant tips to help you get there.

1. Try an at-home sculpt class

No surprise! The easiest way to feel more toned is to actually make your muscles stronger. And how do you make your muscles stronger? By using resistance to work them. When you’re working your muscles, the tension causes microscopic tears that are then repaired, and that repairing is where the “strengthening” happens. Also, call it the placebo effect or simply the fact that muscles swell after they’re worked, but I swear I feel more toned whenever I’m sore the next day. Try a workout that targets every muscle group and works the whole body.

We love Obé Fitness because it offers a wide variety of classes intended to sculpt and tone muscles, all from the comfort of your own home. Personally, my go-to is the sculpt classes for full body work with high reps and light weights (I’m always sore afterward!), but if heavier weights are more your jam, check out the other strength or power classes. Oh, and if you don’t have weights at home? No worries. Body resistance is enough to work the muscles too.

Use code “TEG50” for 50% off your first month, in addition to the 7 day free trial

2. Drink a lot of water

Water seems like the magical cure-all—because it really is. Water not only helps with digestion (AKA less uncomfortable bloat to let those abs pop out), but it also helps muscles feel stronger. “Drinking water is important if you want to build muscle because it’s the primary vessel for carrying the nutrients your muscles need,” recommended Tami Smith, an ACE certified personal trainer. “It also helps prevent your muscles from breaking down by avoiding the shrinking of muscle cells.” Next time you’re tempted to reach for a pre-workout supplement, remember that water is the best possible accompaniment for your strength training. Staying adequately hydrated not only helps you get the most out of your workouts, but it also helps muscles continue to grow.

3. Choose your nighttime snack wisely

Forget those rules that say you should stop eating two hours before bed or that a midnight snack is bad for you. Bottom line: Eat when you’re hungry (that’s how the body is meant to work), but just be conscious about what you reach for when you start to get those pre-bedtime hunger growls. For example, Heather Hanks, MS CAM, a medical adviser for Medical Solutions, recommended produce and lean protein. “Try fresh, whole foods and vegetables that contain de-bloating and toxin-flushing nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, fiber, water, and antioxidants,” she suggested. “Eating lean protein can also provide adequate amounts of amino acids that are needed for muscle synthesis.” To get more specific, try a nighttime snack like bananas when you’re hungry. Bananas are high in potassium, which reduces bloating by helping to flush excess sodium and fluid out of the body.

4. Stretch before bed

Stretching is one of the best health hacks, but it’s also one of the most overlooked. “Stretching out your muscles can help lengthen them back out after they’ve been in a contracted state,” Smith explained. “When your muscles are loose (instead of tight), you tend to have a more lean, toned feeling than when they are tight.” To be your healthiest, strongest self, you don’t just need to be working your muscles to strengthen, you need to be stretching them too. Stretching helps the muscles repair, but certain stretches and yoga poses can also be used to help digestion or decrease bloating to feel your most toned. Try to stretch out the muscle group you worked, do some go-to stretches for the entire body (bonus: these stretches might also help ease anxiety), or use a foam roller to get deeper into the muscle.

5. Get a good night of sleep

Sleep is beneficial for recovering energy to work those muscles again tomorrow. Muscle-building hormones are also produced during sleep, which means your muscles are actually able to grow during and because of sleep–AKA the easiest way to feel more toned by tomorrow. According to Sleep.org, the growth hormone (or the hormone responsible for building muscle) is typically produced during deep sleep. “During sleep, the human growth hormones are activated, helping muscles to recover, repair, heal, grow, and rest from the micro tears occurred during the day,” agreed Dasha Einhorn, a Pilates instructor and NASM-certified fitness specialist. As if you needed more reason to shut off season two of Outer Banks and get to bed early tonight (no but really, get to bed!), muscle growth actually happens while you’re getting your beauty sleep, so rest up to help your body feel more toned.

Not Sure What to Watch? Here’s What We’re Binge-Watching Right Now

Source: Madeline Galassi

All of my life, my mother has had a strict 9 p.m. bedtime. No matter what function we attended, tasks needed to be accomplished, or vacations we were on, my mother would tap her watch promptly at 8:30 p.m., yawn, and give us the signal that we had to Irish exit and get home STAT. Enter the infinite number of times she had an overwhelming opinion on what to watch on Netflix and then promptly fell into a slumber before the beginning of the movie was even over.

Two weeks ago, my mother called me at 10:30 p.m.—basically her “middle of the night.” What could my mother, who adheres to such a strict bedtime, want this late at night? I answered with much confusion, only to immediately burst out laughing when she exclaimed, “Dexter is such a good show. Have you seen it?”

There’s nothing quite like finding a new, thrilling series that makes you abandon your morals and your bedtime. For our editors, these shows do that. From true crime to romance to drama to comedy and beyond, here are 10 shows that our team can’t get enough of right now:

1. Love Island (UK)

Where to stream: Hulu

Number of seasons: 7

After what feels like years of my friends trying to convince me to watch Love Island (UK), I finally took this new season as an opportunity to hop on board. I don’t have cable so I don’t watch too much reality TV, but let me tell you, Love Island has absolutely swept me off of my feet. It’s not the deep, heavy, complex thriller that I usually go for (honestly quite the opposite), and that’s exactly why I love it so much. It’s nice and lighthearted, but if you’ve never watched it before, don’t let that fool you. You’ll become so engrossed with the characters, their relationship developments, hilarious banter, and the common phrases that you 100 percent will find yourself using in your day-to-day life. I may or may not have said, “I don’t fancy my email inbox” aloud in a British accent this morning.

– Ashley Selleke, Contributing Editor

2. The Vampire Diaries

Where to stream: Netflix

Number of seasons: 8

Yes, I am watching The Vampire Diaries—again. Since the first time I read Twilight, I’ve been sucked into vampire drama (pun intended), and I rewatch this series every few years because it’s my comfort show. Even if love triangles and supernatural creatures aren’t your thing, I’m willing to bet that Damon Salvatore is.

– Jessica Jones, Social Media Editor

3. Loki

Where to stream: Disney+

Number of seasons: 1

To say that a Marvel TV show is a little off-brand for me would be an understatement—most of the time, I’m a registered true crime docuseries junkie, Gossip Girl loyalist, and How I Met Your Mother fanatic. However, I am absolutely obsessed with Tom Hiddleston, and this series has not only provided the thrills that any MCU installment promises but also an endearing cast of characters and an engaging plot. If you love a little space-themed action, a romantic subplot, and Owen Wilson playing a very typical Owen Wilson character, this series is for you.

– Emma Ginsberg, Editorial Intern

4. The Real Housewives of Potomac

Where to stream: Hulu

Number of seasons: 5

My best friends and our other editors swore up and down that I would fall in love with the Potomac housewives (I binged RHONY last year and thought that was the best of the franchise—I was wrong). They were obviously right because I’m on season 4 and watch the show every single night. I’m obsessed. The women in this show are all amazing; I’m rooting for every single one even though they annoy me sometimes or do things I disagree with. I love watching a Housewives show with a diverse cast (the entire Potomac cast is Black or biracial, and I really appreciate the discussions around being Black women there) because the franchise hasn’t historically been that way. But of course, they have a lot of what you come for: the drama. It’s the wildest show; I’ve been riveted over and over again, and I still know I have so much ahead of me.

– Beth Gillette, Beauty Content Manager & Associate Editor

5. Outer Banks

Where to stream: Netflix

Number of seasons: 2

Obviously, I had to binge watch season two of Outer Banks the second it came out. But before I did that, I also rewatched the first season—and let me tell you, it’s worth a rewatch. This show just gives immaculate beachy vibes, and I don’t think I could ever get sick of it. After watching both seasons, I already can’t wait for a third. I love these characters so much, and I can’t wait to see how they continue to grow.

6. Gossip Girl (Reboot)

Where to stream: HBO Max

Number of seasons: 1

I never thought I’d get the opportunity to dive back into fantasies of being an Upper East Side youth, but HBO Max gave it to us, and I’m taking it and running. It’s new, cooler, edgier, and completely free of headbands, and it’s the perfect summer show to binge.

– Madeline Galassi, Associate Editor & Fashion Content Manager

7.  Love is Blind (After the Alter)

Where to stream: Netflix

Number of seasons: 1

I’m a sucker for any reality show (the trashier, the better), but dating shows really take the cake for me. And a dating show where they get engaged before even looking at each other and then have to assimilate to normal life together? Sign me up. I obviously binged the entire season when it first came out last year, but you bet I’m rewatching the season again in celebration of After the Alter coming out, AKA a whole three episodes of pure drama and exploring what the contestants’ lives are like two years after they either got married or were left at the altar (yeah, it’s good). Three words: Justice for Giannina.

– Josie Santi, Associate Editor & Wellness Content Manager

8. Are You The One?

Where to stream: Hulu, Netflix, and MTV

Number of seasons: 8

Something about not being in a messy situationship but watching others get involved in them just hits different. If you’re looking for a not-so-serious-but-still-can’t-look-away type of show, then Are You The One? is definitely ideal. You’ll find yourself getting invested in all of the love triangles (and other various shapes), frustrated as these 20-somethings all try to find their “perfect match,” and excited to see them get closer to winning $1,000,000! Plus, allowing modern technology to pre-determine who you’re destined to be with just adds the perfect twist to any love game show.

– Andi Wynter, Social Media Editor

9. The Hills: New Beginnings

Where to stream: MTV and Hulu

Number of seasons: 2

For me, this show is more of a need-to-watch rather than a want because, as someone who is a huge fan of anything celeb and pop culture, I’m way too curious about what some of LA’s first influencers are up to these days. The spinoff features many of the same cast members including Heidi, Spencer, Audrina, Justin Bobby, and Brody (Kristin even makes a quick appearance.) but all at such different stages of their lives than where we left them in 2010. If you’re looking for something quick, easy to follow, slightly comical, and full of cheesy drama to end your night with, The Hills: New Beginnings is a great option.

– Keely Geist, Senior Social Media Editor

10. Sex/Life

Where to stream: Netflix

Number of seasons: 1

I’m obsessed with any drama/romance series, so Sex/Life is right up my alley. This series involves an intense love triangle with an extremely attractive cast—what more could you ask for? Be prepared for some nudity though, especially in episode 3 minute 19 (just saying). Aside from all the drama, what I like most about this show is that it’s all told from a woman’s perspective and centers around what she wants out of her life.

Me: “I need to stop buying things on Amazon.” Also me: *hits “Add To Cart” for the fourth time today*

What can I say… I’m a sucker for two-day shipping, having everything I could possibly need on one website, and being able to stock up on my favorite essential/not-so-essential items without having to leave the comfort of my bed. But with a quick review of my ever-growing list of great Amazon finds, I am reassured and once again question, “Why ruin a good thing?”

This month, I surveyed some trusted Amazon stans (my fellow coworkers) to bring you all some of the best Amazon finds that we treated ourselves to this month. From chic furry slipper slides to resistance bands that’ll help you get fit AF, we’ve got your next impulsive “Add To Cart” moment covered.

Classic Can Tumbler Glasses

Not to be too dramatic but these tumbler glasses might be my favorite part of every morning. When I saw them featured by a fellow apartment dweller on TikTok, I found my way to Amazon in record time. Not only are they great quality and serve as the perfect home for my iced matcha lattes, but they’re aesthetically pleasing which is always a win in my book.

The Five Minute Journal

After months of hearing my friends, coworkers, and influencers rave about The Five Minute Journal, I finally pulled the trigger on buying one myself. I’ve always loved the idea of journaling but, on busy days, it’s really hard for me to get my pen to paper and spend time journaling with intention. This method of journaling is brief, helps you to set your tone for the day, is designed to help you improve your outlook on life. I’ve been loving using it and now, I’m one of those people who rave about The Five Minute Journal, too.

Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle

I lost my emotional support water bottle about a month ago and, instead of replacing it, I did some research and wanted to test out a new one. I love this new insulated water bottle so much that it truly makes me look? forward? to? drinking? water? This water bottle is the perfect size for cup holders, keeps my water ice cold for hours on end, has a handle that allows me to take it anywhere I go, and has a protective push-to-open lid that keeps the built-in straw clean.

Diana The Huntress Bust

You know those days when you just want an update to your apartment, like NOW? I found this affordable bust on Amazon with free one-day shipping (thank you, Prime!) and knew I had to have it. I high-key stan the bust trend circulating on Instagram, but since I don’t have room in my budget for expensive busts (ah, to have a bust budget!), so I was so excited to find this Amazon item that looks just as good as the pricier options. I put it on my media console and it immediately made my living room a little trendier, chicer, and elegant.

Vertuo Coffee and Espresso Machine

I had been resisting a Nespresso for year: there’s no reason to buy a new coffee machine when I have a perfectly good Keurig, right? Wrong. When it came on sale on Amazon, I knew it was my sign to take the plunge, and I have never looked back. I learned that yes, there is a huge difference between coffee machines, and the price of a nicer one is well worth it. I’m now DIYing americanos, lattes, and iced coffees on the reg, like the fancy coffee queen I deserve to be. My only regret: not indulging in frothy and delicious coffee sooner.

IPOW

Peloton Desk Tray

When I started working from home, my fitness routine took a bit of a hit since I was no longer walking to work, burning calories on the job, or stopping at my yoga studio on my way home. This product has transformed my workouts by allowing me to cycle while working on my laptop. I attach it to my Peloton, but it works with other stationary bikes too. I try to get an hour of biking in during the day and usually end up cycling about 10 miles while doing the work I normally do at my desk – definitely a game changer.

Anti-Slip Nose Pads for Eyeglasses

This completely unglamorous purchase is something that has completely changed my day-to-day life—and I mean that. I have a straight nose bridge that glasses love to slide down, especially in the summer when sweat is thrown into the equation. I ordered these in an effort to prevent pushing my sunglasses up my nose every five seconds during summer, and they have worked like an absolute dream. Not only do the tiny pads make glasses much more comfortable, but they completely prevent them from moving, even when you’re dripping sweat. This pack came with enough that I put them on all of my regular glasses and sunglasses—they’re the best $10 I’ve spent in a long time.

Freshwater Pearl Beaded Necklace

Beaded necklaces are a huge summer trend, and I loved the idea of having one to mix some color into my necklace stack—but didn’t want to break the bank. This one is adorable and could’ve absolutely fooled me as a much more expensive version. I’ve been wearing it constantly and it was a perfect winner of an Amazon fashion find.

Bed Sheet Fasteners

Another completely unglamorous find that has completely changed my daily frustrations, these bed sheet fasteners have kept my sheets tight and right every second since I got them. I’m a tosser and a turner and was incredibly sick of waking up to my fitted sheet sliding off my mattress every single day, and these prevent them from moving even slightly. They take maybe two minutes to throw on all four corners and keep my bed perfectly made until I take them off.

Jason Markk

Premium Shoe Cleaner

For anyone who wears sneakers, this cleaning kit is a MUST. BUY. I’ll admit, I don’t take the best care of my shoes but when I find a pair I love, I wear them to death. After avoiding my favorite pair of Adidas sneakers for over a year because they were so dirty I couldn’t even bear to look at them, I finally caved and cleaned them. (Yes, when it comes to housekeeping chores like this I adopt an avoid-at-all-costs-until-the-last-possible-moment approach.) I had actually purchased this cleaning kit awhile back but was almost out. Once I was reminded of how it returns my shoes to their sparkling best, I immediately went over to Amazon to restock. My entire shoe collection is about to get a makeover, and it only cost 16 bucks.

I was inspired by this article to give my handbag collection a little TLC. There’s a reason this brand has a cult-following with purse aficionados and it lives up to all the hype. Cat Eye Glasses

I bought these glasses on a whim because one can never have too many sunglasses strewn about during summer. Since then, I’ve received so many compliments when I wear them that I almost feel guilty I only paid $18 for the set. The matte black pair looks high end without the $$ price tag. They are very oversized (which I love), so if you have a smaller face or aren’t a fan of that look, make sure to check out the photo reviews.

FAVORITES FROM LAST MONTH

Amazon

Water Resistant Tote

I really wanted a medium-sized tote bag that I could bring around to all of my summer activities—whether that be a picnic, a day of running errands, a trip to the beach, or something where I might need a quick change of clothes. I scoured Amazon for far too long before landing on this one, but it has been everything I was looking for. It’s perfect for packing up a picnic blanket, book, snacks, and wine, and it’s easy to carry on my shoulder. I got it in a solid light purple color, but there are tons of cute colors and patterns available.

As someone who lives in an apartment, I don’t have the luxury of a super fancy bathtub where I can take the baths that I dream about. However, I did want to be able to take baths in general, but my tub does not have a way to stop the drain. I did a quick search on Amazon to find something that could plug the drain and found these, which have thousands of five-star reviews. They work great and are perfect for apartment-dwellers like me.

Clear Shoe Organizers

I kept my shoes on a rack in my closet for YEARS. My shoes collected dust like no one’s business, the rack always fell apart, and I was stuck in an endless cycle of organizing my shoes on the rack, getting annoyed, just tossing them in the closet, and then reorganizing. I finally decided to do something about it and got these clear shoe boxes from Amazon. They stack neatly and open from the front, so my shoes stay dust-free AND it’s super easy to keep them organized. I’m very much not exaggerating when I say these shoe boxes are my favorite quarantine purchase.

Laptop Lap Desk

Listen: I love my desk. I have a small vase I put flowers in, a bunch of little knick-knacks, a sweet monitor setup, and a light I can set to any color I choose. But I probably only sit there about 60 percent of my work day. I like to migrate. I’ll sit at my dining table, in my reading chair, on my couch, wherever the wind takes me. I had been wanting a lap desk for quite some time and finally decided to just go for it. I truly don’t know why I waited so long, but this lap desk seriously makes my days so much better. I no longer have to deal with my laptop overheating on my lap and it also has a nifty holder I can put my phone in so I don’t constantly lose it between couch cushions or in the black hole that is my favorite chair.

Scuba Slide Sandal

When I tell you that I did some serious damage beefing up my summer wardrobe this month, I mean it. I purged old items I didn’t want and made a list of what I wanted to replace, and one of the items on that list was poolside slides that I could wear while running errands during the summertime. I originally found these slides on DSW’s website where they didn’t have my size but luckily, Amazon pulled through and had the exact same pair in the correct size in stock. They’re wildly comfortable and will be the perfect go-to slide for short walks around town and when I’m chilling at the beach or pool.

Pasta Bowls

Are you really an adult if you don’t have every type of bowl under the sun? Under this theory, up until a month ago, I wasn’t. My previous go-to bowls were a lot deeper but, at the same time, pretty damn small. AKA, mixing my salads in said bowl was a nightmare (picture: shreds of kale and sweet potatoes hopping out without warning) while my surface area for cheese on my pasta was little to none. I didn’t know that I needed these bowls so much until I actually started using them. They’re shallow but have a larger diameter, which makes them the perfect plate/bowl combo I didn’t even know I needed.

Workout Top

I was inspired by our editor Ashley and my newfound appreciation for the one-piece workout top to try this, and I am loving it so far. I don’t have time to grab a sports bra AND a top before I do a workout, but I really don’t feel comfortable just wearing a sports bra (beyond the body image of it all, it’s just annoying to constantly pull down!). This solves all of those issues while looking really cute, and it just so happens I already had leggings in a few of these colors, so they look like sets!

Rolling Laundry Cart

I just moved to a new unit in my apartment building, which is a high-rise with a big laundry room on the top floor. In my previous apartment, I had the ratty, old hamper I’d used for years that made me never want to walk upstairs to do my laundry. And I mean it… never. So when I moved, I knew I had to opt for something that would be easy to take up and down, even if I had a hefty amount of clothes in it. Plus, my closet is totally visible, so I needed it to look somewhat presentable. I opted for this because the wheels would be easy to pull down the hallways, and I was right! I’ve done my laundry more in the last month than I did in the last six at my old place. Success.

SweatBlock Deodorant Lotion

Summer is my least favorite season for one reason, and one reason only. Once the temperature creeps above 75 degrees my entire body melts into a sweaty mess reminiscent of the 1980s classic character Swamp Thing. I’ve tried really cute solutions like body powder or deodorizing sprays to no avail. One thing that HAS shown promise is an aptly named body deodorant called Man Parts. It’s a talc-free lotion-to-powder formula that you can apply… wherever. Initial results have been strong, but I’ll have a better sense of how it performs when Manhattan returns to sweat lodge status in August. Note: Apparently they make a “Lady Parts” version, but I’ve already committed.

Letter Print Tee

This oversized boxy tee is the perfect dupe for an Anine Bing tee. Anine, if you’re reading this just know I find you impossibly chic, but I have a mortgage. Bonus: this shirt feels nicer than your standard $20 tee. As for sizing, they mean it when they call it oversized. I would say for a slightly-loose-tuck-in-your-jeans moment, go true to size. If you want an oversized-halfway-to-your-knees-TikTok-youth moment, go up a size.

Jolly Egg

I saw this toy on TikTok and immediately purchased it. Like all good TikTok trends it was sold out and I had to wait a few weeks for it to come in. If you’re in the same position when you click over, let me just affirm that IT IS WORTH THE WAIT.

So, what makes this dog toy so special? The hard plastic material and shape means that it’s impossible for your dog to pick up—but that doesn’t stop them from trying. Our 16lb dog goes nuts chasing it across the floor and we have to eventually take it away so she doesn’t collapse from exhaustion. The only downside? It’s incredibly loud. Not the kind of toy you want them playing with if you’re on a zoom call in the other room. But if a little noise doesn’t bother you, 30 minutes can equal complete exhaustion so afterwards you can watch Real Housewives in peace.

The Laundress Fabric Fresh

The most simple description of this product is “bougie bitch Febreeze”. The scent is a light clean laundry smell that’s not overly-chemical like other fabric refreshers. Yes, the fragrance is light but I personally think that’s what makes it fancy lady and not air freshener explosion. I like to spray it on the sheets before guests arrive, on a shirt that I probably shouldn’t be rewearing for the fourth time, or on the couch when I can tell my dogs have been lounging on it.

Jute Beach Tote

We are frequent beach goers in the summer, so I purchased this as an upgraded tote to take with me. It’s cute and incredibly easy to get sand out of. I also just appreciate any item that makes me look put together when I’ve been sweating and swimming. I went with the large and it’s smaller than our normal beach bag that can hold supplies for multiple people. This is very much a one human bag or a two low-maintenance humans bag. Alas, I am one high-maintenance lady so I use it as more of a purse replacement than a large catchall.

Speaking of the beach, these are another favorite at my house. Loctite Mounting Putty

I cannot speak to the mounting quality of this putty because I use it to clean my Airpods. Yes, you read that correctly.

Without getting too graphic, you warm the putty up in your hands and then roll it over the speaker part of your Airpod. It magically pulls out the dirt and earwax in those tiny spots that you can’t get with a wipe. The magic can only be compared to the Oxyclean commercials that would run at every ad break when you were home sick from school and watching daytime television.

I’ve since used it to clean out my cellphone charging port and it works just as well.

Motivational Water Bottle

Other than coffee, my Brita filter is the only beverage source I regularly keep in my fridge. My water intake has never really been a problem, exactly, but I wanted to make sure I was drinking at least two liters each day, rather than sipping on the same glass for hours at a time and forgetting to refill. Fabric Resistance Bands

Fabric resistance bands have been on my “to buy” list since I hastily ran to the nearest Target at the beginning of the pandemic looking for workout equipment. I snatched up a set of rubber resistance bands and a pair of pink dumbbells, ready to adapt my workout routine for the stay-at-home order. Unfortunately, I realized almost right away the rubber booty bands weren’t going to cut it. After approximately one (1) use, I knew I simply could not deal with them constantly rolling up during my workouts. After not touching them for a year, I finally upgraded to these fabric bands and I could not be happier. The fabric prevents them from rolling up in the middle of my workouts and I love the different resistance levels. Bonus: they also come with a small case to help keep your workout-from-home setup organized.

Marble Foam Roller

One of my most fatal flaws in life is that, despite knowing the benefits of foam rolling, I avoid it like the plague. Part of the reason that I dislike it is that, after an hour or more at the gym, I don’t necessarily want to stick around for an extra 20 minutes to get the job done. Before this purchase, I didn’t have one for myself and, naturally, I sustained a minor injury to my right hip that kept me from my gym routine for a few days. And what did my physical therapist urge me to do? Rest, foam roll, and let my body heal. So, I opened my Amazon app, pulled the trigger on this cute, apartment-friendly, marble-colored foam roller, and am vowing to make foam rolling a priority in my future routine.

Rectangle Retro Sunglasses

Spring is finally here and after a few months of gloomy skies, I’m looking forward to sunny days ahead. This season, I’m opting for these super trendy sunnies that are impressively affordable. Cue me sitting directly on my Ray-Bans, hearing a devastating crunch, and stating, “This is why we can’t have nice things.” If any damage is done to these Amazon ones, I won’t feel as much shame because 1) they come in a pack of two and 2) they are inexpensive AF.

Athletic Running Shorts

I have never been a huge fan of shorts and that dislike also applied to exercise shorts until I ordered these. Not only do they not pinch me anywhere but they truly do not ride up! The longer layer compression piece stays put while the outer layer is a bit flowier so you don’t feel hugged in any of the wrong places. Facial Massage Ice Roller

I’ve always been obsessed with ice rolling the face for a variety of benefits. After a good ice rolling, my skin immediately looks glowier, less puffy, and I swear my pores seem smaller (oh, and any breakouts seem less noticeable too). Plus, I love using a roller on my neck and shoulders to relieve any neck tension and help with headaches. Sure I already had an ice roller, but when I saw this one that was way cuter (and super affordable) I knew it was time for an upgrade. Furry Slipper Slides

Full disclosure: I have very few shoes that slip on. My closet is full of booties, sneakers, or even lace-up sandals, but I have never owned many slip-on shoes. 16-Piece Cookware Set

When I moved into my first apartment, I was all about budget. Well, this past January, I realized I somehow was still using the cheapest pots and pans known to man, three years later. I found these on Amazon (admittedly because I was looking for pink pots and pans), and I love them. They were still quite budget-friendly for how many pieces it comes with, but the quality is eons better than what I was using before. Mini Dress with Ruffle Sleeves

I live in the south so summer is absolutely BRUTAL. Until November 1, you just accept that you’ll be covered in sweat anytime you leave the comfort of air conditioning. When I saw this dress on Jacey Duprie’s instagram a few weeks ago, I immediately added it to my cart. It hits my most important qualifications for summer clothing: light fabric, loose fit, hides sweat, and looks like you’re dressed up but with maximum comfort. I’m a size 8, so I ordered a medium (the size range listed for medium was 8-10) and I found it to fit perfectly loose. If you’re more on the small/medium size (like a 6-8), I would suggest sizing down as the dress has little to no shape. Some of the reviews note that it can be a bit short, so if you’re taller than 5ft 6 in, diligently check the dimensions before purchasing. Let’s be real: this is a $27 potato sack dress from Amazon. I’m not here to tell you it’s high quality by any means. But it’s easy to throw on with a pair of sandals and I’ll likely purchase this in a few more colors.

Even though I’m the biggest beauty lover I know, I still wince at the thought of paying full price for some of my favorite products. There’s just something about throwing your money at something that will eventually run out (and that you’ll have to pay for again) that makes me cringe. As much as I love my favorite products and trying new ones, I’m all about finding a discount whenever I can. Whether you’re stocking up on old favorites (me with my beloved Bioderma micellar water) or trying something new with a higher price tag (our editors have major heart-eyes for everything Tula RN), the Dermstore anniversary sale is everything your bathroom cabinet asked for. Our favorite skincare, makeup, and hair care brands are up to 25 percent off right now until August 17—just use the code “CELEBRATE” at checkout! Plus, if you’re part of Dermstore’s rewards program, you can earn 3X the points on select items.

NuFACE: 20% Off

NuFACE

Trinity Facial Toning Kit

NuFACE is one of the best beauty gadgets I’ve ever tried because it actually works. It uses microcurrents to target the muscles in the face to keep working and produce more collagen, and it also tightens and sculpts the face. Whether you’re worried about fine lines and wrinkles or just want to tighten up your face a bit, this product works both immediately and over time, meaning you’ll notice a difference right away and bigger changes over time. I’m really self-conscious about the contours of my face, and using this once a day really helped boost my confidence. Jump on this deal ASAP because it will sell out.

Skin Perfecting 2 BHA Exfoliant

Our editors’ favorite exfoliator for banishing blackheads that’s viral on TikTok in a jumbo size and on sale? Say no more. This salicylic acid exfoliating toner is gentle yet effective, leaving your skin feeling softer, clearer, and brighter after only a few uses.

Bioderma

Sensibio Water

Before the dozens of dupes hit the market, the only micellar water you could find was this puppy, and I’ll be honest, it’s still the best. Not a day goes by where I don’t use my Bioderma. Whether I’m fixing winged liner, toning my face in the morning, getting those last bits of mascara off my eyes before bed, or taking off my makeup before an evening yoga class, I keep one of these around me at all times. It does it all.

Bioderma

Cleansing Oil

This is a new favorite over the last few months, but I don’t know if I ever want to be without it again. Once I tried a body cleansing oil, I vowed to never go back to traditional body wash. Nothing makes me feel quite as clean with such a soft, supple feeling. After spending a weekend at a friend’s lake house and completely dousing myself in sunscreen every five minutes on the boat, this was the heavy duty cleanser that helped me remove it all. It leaves no residue, and my skin has never felt so smooth.

Elemis: 20% Off

Elemis

Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm

After I tried this cleansing balm, I refused to try pretty much anything else because I knew nothing would hold a candle to the perfection that is the Elemis Pro-Collagen Balm. It removes every trace of makeup without leaving an oily residue on my skin but still keeps me feeling so soft. I even use this in the mornings as my cleanser on days I want to look my absolute best.

Sunday Riley

Good Genes All-in-One Lactic Acid Treatment

Loved by various members of our staff, Sunday Riley’s Good Genes is the perfect all-in-one treatment that’s exfoliating without being too drying. Containing lactic acid—a powerhouse AHA—and aloe, licorice, and lemongrass, it combines ingredients to slough off dead skin while soothing and calming skin.

Baby Foot: 15% Off

Baby Foot

Exfoliation Foot Peel

Pop these little booties on your feet for two hours, then wash whatever remaining product is on your feet with soap and warm water. Your feet will feel smooth at first, but the magic really happens in about a week. Your feet will begin to peel like your back did before you discovered sunscreen on that family vacation in Florida when you were 11.

Klorane

Dry Shampoo With Oat Milk

Whenever I tell someone about a dry shampoo, I compare it to this because this is the gold standard. It removes the grease, adds volume, and has a subtle scent that makes me feel like I actually washed my hair. I used to barely be able to go a day without washing my hair before I tried this, and now I can last nearly a week on my oily, fine hair.

R+Co: 25% Off

R + Co

Velvet Curtain Texture Balm

I’m new to R+Co products, but this has made me a complete believer. Made in collaboration with celebrity hairstylist Jenny Cho, this balm is used on damp or dry hair to add volume and a matte texture without making it feel crunchy or reducing its softness. Cho said she uses this on Kristen Bell to create soft, beachy waves, so obviously, that’s how I’ve been using it too.

Dr. Loretta

Tightening Eye Gel

I’ve had this in my collection for a few years now, and I still see the hype. This is the only eye cream/gel/product that has actually made a difference in my hereditary eye bags. Are they gone? No, but they’re so much less puffy and red when I use this in the mornings. Every other product just moisturizes under the eyes, but this has active ingredients (including peptides) that reduce under-eye circles and puffiness over time.

SkinMedica: 10% Off

Skinmedica

TNS Essential Serum

This is a splurge, but that’s what these sales are for, right? SkinMedica is known for this serum, which is basically considered Botox in a bottle. It contains growth factors that improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, even skin tone, and reduce texture. It’s endorsed by estheticians, dermatologists, celebrities, and others and is for anyone looking to really improve their skin at home without in-office treatments.

BeautyStat Cosmetics: 25% Off

Beautystat

Universal C Skin Refiner

Finding a good vitamin C is a challenge I accepted this year. I wanted a formula that would stay stabilized for a while as I used it up, and since liquid vitamin C formulas have a tendency to go bad if they’re exposed to too much oxygen, I’ve been on the hunt for something cream-based. After listening to the founder of BeautyStat on Clubhouse the last few months, I’m desperate to get my hands on this. Containing 20 percent l-ascorbic acid, green tea, and squalane in a stabilized, gel-cream formula, this has major claims to brighten skin tone, reduce texture, improve fine lines and wrinkles, and finally get rid of dark spots for good.

Tula

Blurring Moisturizing Primer

According to our editor who used this up, this is a real-life “pretty” filter, which is all I need to hear to buy something. This Tula primer/moisturizer hybrid gives your skin a natural, lit-from-within glow without the use of glitter—it’s just a gorgeous sheen that makes you look healthy and alive, whether or not you’re wearing makeup.

HUM Nutrition: 20% Off

HUM

Overnight Skin Cell Renewal Supplement

I’ll be the first to admit that for someone who spends her whole life thinking about skincare, makeup, and hair, I’m missing the one integral part of making all of that actually work: good sleep habits. I’m an early riser who can never seem to get to bed on time, resulting in under-eye bags, grogginess, and a midday crash only a Red Bull could fix (@ our wellness editor, you didn’t read that). But I’m doing everything I can to get it under control, and this is about to be my secret weapon. Melatonin has never really worked for me, but after listening to a podcast about how CoQ10, valerian root, and hops can improve your sleep, I’m highly intrigued.

Loose Mineral Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15

Now that I’ve delved into the world of powder foundation, it’s high-time I try the original now that I’m a little older and actually know how to apply makeup (this was the first high-end beauty product I ever bought myself, so it does hold a special place in my heart). This powder promises a natural, skin-like finish on every skin type and tone, and it can be worn in a sheer layer or built up for medium coverage.

Hydrating Mask

I’m anticipating my skin’s annual switch to dry and crusty in about a month or so, and esthetician Ashley Powers recommended this for anyone whose skin gets dry AF every winter. Ever since that interview, I’ve wanted to pick up this hydrating mask, which contains oat milk extract, glycerin, and honey, three powerhouse ingredients for alleviating dry skin.
